  نویسنده یی خوش خط در میان ھزاره ھا که نامه، عریضه و قباله به نثر زیبای فارسی تحریر میکند، یا کتب نایاب (مثل شاھنامه، حمله حیدری، صرف میر وغیره) رابرای مردم استنساخ مینماید؛ کاتب ورزیده دولتی که در نگارش اوراق و نوشته جات اداری کاملاً وارد باشد۔

scribe with a beautiful handwriting who writes letters, petitions as well as other documents in high and literary Persian for people who cannot write for themselves or as an occupation with government or court of the king (in former times a scribe used to also 'copy' books for common use , e.g. Shah Namah, Hamla-i Haideri, Sarf-i Mir); a proficient clerk in the government service who is well-versed in the writing of all kinds of administrative paperwork
